The first Inaugural South African Film and Television Academy Awards nominations were announced on September 28th honoring the creative talent of South African Film and Television creators. Curious Pictures, one of South Africa’s top television production houses swept the board, receiving the highest number of nominations attributed to a single company (25) and the highest to any single show (14 nominations for its drama series, Hard Copy).
At the SAFTA nominee announcements last Thursday, Curious Pictures was awarded 25 nominations in 16 categories by the judging panels, consisting of industry professionals, journalists, and academics.
The list of nominations for Curious Pictures bears testimony to the diverse range of content targeted by producers and created by the production staff housed at Curious Pictures. Nominations covered genres of Best TV Drama for Hard Copy and Tsha Tsha, best actuality/news programme for L’atitude II, Best Educational Series for Tsha Tsha, Best Writing in a TV Drama for Hard Copy and Tsha Tsha as well as numerous technical categories including editing, cinematography, art direction, wardrobe and make-up. In addition, they also received nominations for Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor in the television drama section.
