| Curious Pictures, one of South Africa’s top television production houses, famous for audience favorites such as Hard Copy, The Lab and Tsha Tsha is solidifying an international position as not only one of South Africa’s best production houses but as a top competitor in the global market of media production. Curious Pictures will be competing for two awards at the 2007 Banff World Television Awards.
The Banff World Television Festival is the world's most important television content creation event. Festival organizers draw more than 1,500+ industry executives among them the top international commissioning editors, broadcast industry leaders and influential power-brokers.
Now in its 28th year, the festival provides a global platform for international television and provides a networking space for worldwide commission editors from established international networks such as BBC, UKTV, National Geographic, MTV, Channel 4 and Canal+ to discover the freshest, hottest new ideas in television from the top production companies in the world.
Curious Pictures has been nominated for a World Television Award in Youth and Family Programming for the film, The Good Provider, which screened nationally this year during the HEARTLINES Series on SABC.
Additionally, Curious Pictures is nominated for a World Television Award for Heartlines the film which will compete in the Made for Television Movie Category. Heartlines, the film was originally shown as the final selection in the Heartlines Series.
The Heartlines film has received international attention this year screening at film festivals worldwide including, Goteburg Sweden; Pan African in Los Angeles, California; FESPACO in Burquina Faso; Atlanta, Georgia; New Orleans, and Louisiana.
The 2007 World Television Festival takes place June 10-13, 2007, at the Fairmont Banff Springs in the Canadian Rockies, and will draw television professionals from around the world. The official awards ceremony will be held on the closing day to announce the winners of the 2007 World Television Awards.
The Heartlines Series was a collaborative initiative involving Curious Pictures, the Mass media Project, First National Bank and SABC.
