Curious Pictures nominated for 23 awards at the 3rd Annual South African Film and Television Awards
Nominations for the 3rd Annual South African Film and Television Awards were announced on November 19th at a cocktail reception hosted by the NFVF.
Curious Pictures productions have secured a total of 23 nominations across the eligible categories including Sports, Drama, Comedy and Soapies.
Five nominations have been awarded to the second season of the Cross Roads Interactive Drama which was written and directed by Donovan Marsh. Nominations include Best Drama, Best Actor for Tumisho Masha as Dex Dube, Best Supporting Actor for Nick Boraine as Jimmy Black, Best Actress for Pamela Nomvete as Nasty Nomvete and Best Music Composition which includes music from multiple artists of the Ghetto Ruff Label.
Curious Pictures Comedy Series Font has received five nominations in the Comedy category including Best Comedy, Best Actor for Darren Maule as Luke Font, Best Supporting actor for Denzel Edgar as Brendan Venter, Best Writing and Best Ensemble.
Rhythm City will be competing for twelve awards in the Soapie Category. Nominations include Best Directors, Best Actor for Jamie Bartlett as David Genero, Best Actor for Zenzo Ngqoba as Stone Khuze, Best Supporting Actor Mduduzi Mabaso as Suffocate, Best Supporting Actress for Nokuthula Ledwaba as Tshidi Khuze, Best Ensemble, Best Writing, Best Multi Camera Team and Best Art Direction. Additionally, Rhythm City is up for the public vote awards for Best Soapie, Best Villian- David Genero, Best Dressed- Lucilla Vilakazi and Best Comic- Fats.
Shosholoza rounds the total to 23 with a nomination for Best Sports Programme.
The the 3rd Annual South African Film and Television Awards Gala will take place on February 7th, 2009 at the Pretoria State Theatre and will be broadcast on SABC2 at 8pm.
