| Curious Pictures children’s television production, BUDDYZ ON THE MOVE, was honored with a UNICEF Special Award at the 2008 Prix Jeunesse International in Germany.
Winning at the Prix Jeunesse International is children’s television’s highest honor. The bi-annual competition was held May 30th- June 4th 2008 at the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation in Munich, Germany. The Prix Jeunesse is distinctive in the field of international children’s television programming drawing diverse submissions from around the world as far as Egypt, Bhutan and Kenya.
The Prix Jeunesse had this to say of the BUDDYZ ON THE MOVE winning submission; “ BUDDYZ ON THE MOVE embodies the UNICEF Prize not only in its presentation of children’s rights issues but also in it’s treatment and involvement of young people and the media process…. The very essence of BUDDYZ ON THE MOVE is derived from the power that media can have on children in a positive way….”
Executive Producer Harriet Gavshon says, “ Receiving a UNICEF Award is an honor to the work of BUDDYZ ON THE MOVE which helps us to better understand the issues facing youth and give the children a louder voice to express their solutions on a global platform.”
The BUDDYZ ON THE MOVE series submission was produced by Byrne Keanly and directed by Asi Mathaba. The 2008 UNICEF Award is BUDDYZ ON THE MOVE’s second UNICEF Award, the first was awarded at the 2007 Commonwealth Broadcasting Association's Broadcasting Awards.

BUDDYZ ON THE MOVE is a Clinic television production - a joint venture of Curious Pictures and Ochre Media. It is produced in collaboration with Soul City Institute and is a sister programme to the popular South African children’s television drama, Soul Buddyz.
